Antonov An124 in Brisbane

On the 22nd of January 2013 at 14:45, an Antonov An124 (UR-82009) flew in to Brisbane airport to make a delivery of some sort.

I took these photos from my backyard at Coopers Plains, with the An124 at a height of around 3000 feet. Unfortunately, it wasn't the best weather for photography, but I'm pretty chuffed with the results I managed to get.

It certainly was a huge plane! As a matter of fact, it's the third biggest operating cargo plane in the world, behind the one off Antonov An225, and the new Boeing 747-8F.

F/A-18F Super Hornets at Riverfire 2012

Now that I've got some more spare time on my hands, I've been able to catch up on some editing. Including putting together a little montage of the footage I took of the RAAF Super Hornets fly overs, during the Riverfire festival in Brisbane, back in September this year.

Check out the link below, to treat your ears to the sweet sound of jet engines at low altitude :)

Footage taken on Canon 600D, with Canon 90-300mm f5.6 lens.

Unfortunately I didn't have a tripod with me. There was no room to set it up, as it was so packed at Southbank.

Enjoy!

Brisbane Airport Spotting - 26th November 2012

G'day all,

I was lucky enough to get out to do some spotting with a mate at Brisbane Airport at the end of November. Have been a bit busy, so haven't had a chance to get photos up till now.

Here's two of the bigger birds I captured.

Thai Airways - Boeing 777-3D7 - HS-TKC

Singapore Airways - Airbus A330-343E  -  9V-STB

And here's one of the smaller planes of the day.

A Skytrans Dash 8, reg. VH-QQK

Was a good arvo, and look forward to getting back out there again ASAP!

Cheers.

Royals Visit - Bizjet

As many of you all know, there has been a royal visit in the past few days to Australia, and more importantly, it has brought some nice planes with it.

I was lucky enough to capture this Canadair CL640 Challenger A37-001 owned by the RAAF on Monday the 5th of November. It was heading to Brisbane airport, most likely carrying part of the royal entourage.

About five minutes before this aircraft flew over, another royal related aircraft flew over, in the form of a Cessna Citation. Unfortunately I didn't have time to grab the camera for that.

But I hope you can enjoy this image instead!

Gold Coast 600

G'day once again,

I recently ventured to the Gold Coast on October 19th, to see some of the qualifying and practice for the Gold Coast 600 race.

The practice day is considerably cheaper than race days! :P

I had a great day listening to the ear meltingly loud V8 Supercars, as well as other support categories. My favourite being the Aussie GT series, which featured Audi R8s, a Lamborghini Gallardo, and two chrome silver Mercedes Benz SLSs. With their 6.3 litre V8s, they were probably the loudest cars of the day!

And obviously, it's not the Gold Coast 600 without a few promo girls :P

Here's a couple of pics...enjoy.

View from Mt Coot-tha

Hello Again!

Went to Mt Coot-tha lookout point in Brisbane yesterday afternoon, and got some pics of the lovely views. A little bit smoggy due to burn offs at this time of year, but still some great views to be had.

This pic shows Brisbane's CBD, with a Thai Airways Boeing 777 flying over, after taking off from Brisbane airport. It was heading back to Bangkok as TG474.

Lamborghinis...and a Hot Blonde

While I may be interested in planes, there are quite a few other things that take my fancy. Like say, some Lamborghinis, and a hot blonde babe named Chelsea for instance.

Here's a few pics from the RACQ motorfest that was held at Eagle Farm Racecourse on the 15th of July. They had a great display of Lamborghinis this year, including the three pictured here.

(From top to bottom) We see the current top of the range model, the Aventador LP700 ($860,000).

The 1980s poster car, the Countach.

And the cheapest current range model, the Gallardo LP550-2 ($450,00).

Overall a great day drooling over awesome cars, and chatting with hot babes :)
